Bare Cleanser Edit: The Art of Loyalty

Bare Cleanser Edit: The Art of Loyalty

In a world of aggressive exfoliation and complex routines, we return to the foundation.

A cleanser should not be dramatic. It should be consistent. Quiet. Reliable.

At Bare Solutions, we look for one thing above all:

Supple, not stripped.

If your skin feels tight after washing, looks shiny-red, or your serums sit on the surface instead of absorbing — your cleanser may be working against you.

Our Philosophy: Your Loyal Cleanser

A good cleanser removes SPF, pollution, sweat, and oil without disrupting the skin barrier.

The barrier is your skin’s protective shield. When it’s intact, your skin looks calm, hydrated, and resilient. When it’s disrupted, everything feels reactive.

Your cleanser is your daily contact point with that barrier. It matters.

Choosing by Texture

Your skin changes with seasons, stress, and hormones. Choose based on how your skin feels now.

Balm

Best for: Dry skin, heavy makeup, cold climate.
Green flag: Skin feels soft and comfortable after rinsing.
Red flag: Congested or acne-prone skin that reacts to heavier oils.

Cream

Best for: Sensitive, reactive, mature skin.
Green flag: Skin feels calm and lightly hydrated.
Red flag: Residue remains or makeup is not fully removed.

Gentle Gel

Best for: Combination, oily skin, humid weather.
Green flag: Skin feels clean but flexible.
Red flag: Tightness or shine immediately after drying.

Foam

Best for: Very oily skin types.
Green flag: Dense, creamy foam that rinses clean.
Red flag: Large airy bubbles and a tight finish (often linked to stronger surfactants).

Micellar Water

Best for: Pre-cleanse, travel, gym.
Green flag: Makeup dissolves without stinging.
Important: Always rinse. Micelles left on skin can irritate over time.

The Bare Cleansing Protocol

The 60-Second Rule
Massage gently for a full minute. Cleansers need time to dissolve oil and SPF.

Temperature Control
Use lukewarm water. Hot water increases transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and weakens the barrier.

Evening Is Essential
Night cleansing is non-negotiable. SPF, pollution, and sebum accumulate daily.

Double Cleanse When Needed
Heavy SPF or long-wear makeup may require two steps.
On lighter days, one thorough cleanse is enough.

Avoid Over-Cleansing
Morning cleansing should be gentle. If your skin feels tight by midday, you may be washing too aggressively.

Ingredient Audit: What We Look For

Barrier-Respecting Surfactants

  • Cocamidopropyl Betaine

  • Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate

  • Decyl Glucoside / Lauryl Glucoside

  • Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate

  • Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate

  • Polyglyceryl-based surfactants

These cleanse effectively with lower irritation potential.

Supportive Ingredients

  • Glycerin

  • Panthenol

  • Allantoin

  • Ceramides

  • Niacinamide

  • Oat extract

These help maintain hydration and calm the skin.

Ingredients to Approach Carefully

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

  • Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate

  • Alcohol Denat (high on ingredient list)

  • High-strength daily acid cleansers

Acid cleansers can be helpful for acne-prone skin in specific cases.
They are not suitable for daily use for most skin types.

Why This Matters for Treatments

At Bare Solutions, we perform microneedling, RF microneedling, and laser treatments.

A disrupted barrier:

  • Increases sensitivity

  • Slows healing

  • Compromises results

Your cleanser is not separate from your treatment results. It supports them.

The 10-Minute Test

After cleansing, pat dry. Wait 10 minutes before applying anything.

If your skin feels calm and comfortable — you’ve chosen well.

If it feels tight, pulled, or reactive — reconsider.

Why We Curate Carefully

We stock cleansers based on:

  • Surfactant structure

  • Barrier compatibility

  • Long-term tolerance

  • pH balance

  • Post-treatment safety

We do not select products based on foam, fragrance, or marketing trends.

If you are unsure whether your cleanser is supporting or disrupting your skin, bring the ingredient list to your consultation. We will review it with you.

Why Cleanser Choice Matters Before Microneedling or Advanced Skin Treatments

If you are preparing for:

  • RF microneedling

  • SkinPen microneedling

  • Laser treatments

A compromised barrier increases sensitivity and delays healing.
