Slowing the Clock: Omega‑3, Vitamin D & Exercise

Slowing the Clock: Omega‑3, Vitamin D & Exercise

Aging isn’t just numbers on our driver’s license, it’s a molecular dance across our DNA... and who doesn't love a good dance.

This March 2025 study, a post-hoc analysis of DO-HEALTH, dove into how everyday interventions like omega-3, vitamin D, and home exercise can impact biological aging measured by next-generation DNA methylation clocks.

Researchers followed 777 active older adults (average age 75) over three years. Some took omega-3, others vitamin D, others did a simple home exercise program while some combined all three.

The results?

Omega-3 alone gently slowed the biological clocks. Combining all three gave an even stronger effect, especially on PhenoAge (a marker of cellular aging). The slowdown equaled about 3–4 months less biological aging across three years. Not dramatic, but meaningful.

Omega-3 also lowered certain age-linked biomarkers (like PAI-1, leptin, TIMP-1). Adding vitamin D and exercise improved others. These molecular nudges mirror earlier DO-HEALTH results showing fewer infections, falls, and even cancer risk reductions with these interventions.

The takeaway:

Modest but consistent lifestyle choices with omega-3, vitamin D, regular exercise do appear to slow down biological aging at the DNA level. The clocks don’t predict everything, but the trend is hopeful: small steps that add up to longer, healthier years.

The clocks may only tick a few months slower, but consistent lifestyle choices can compound over the years.

And here’s the part that makes a difference for you:

It’s not just researchers paying attention. Even with access to every luxury cream and treatment, figures like Peter Attia and Victoria Beckham still build their routine on omega-rich foods. The message? True skin resilience isn’t created in a jar, It’s supported from the inside out. That’s exactly why we recommend omega supplement prep before microneedling. It ensures your skin is hydrated, calm, and ready to make the most of the treatment. Your post-glow shouldn’t be just surface level, we want it supported at a cellular level for you. We’re always looking out for how we can maximise your treatments for sustainable long term results.
