This is a semi-advanced, results-focused treatment. Some techniques used may cause temporary redness, sensitivity, or skin purging which is a normal part of the process.
Reading this guide in full helps you get the most from your session and protects your skin.
Before: Preparing your skin
-
Arrive with clean skin if possible. We always clean your skin but if you wear heavy waterproof makeup it is helpful to arrive to us without it.
-
Stop using retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliants at least 5 days before your appointment. Active ingredients increase skin sensitivity and can affect how we treat you.
-
Avoid waxing or threading the treatment area for at least 2 weeks prior.
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, sunbeds, or fake tan for 7 days before. Active sun damage changes how the skin responds to treatment.
-
If you have a new prescription, recent illness, or skin change, please let us know before your appointment and not on the day.
Planning around an event? Add a note when you book. If we feel your treatment could affect how your skin looks on the day, we will contact you before your appointment to discuss the best approach. We will never put your skin at risk for a booking.
After: Caring for your skin
-
Expect redness, tightness, or sensitivity, this is normal and usually settles within 24–48 hours. Some peeling or purging may follow in the days after, depending where you are in your skin routine.
-
Do not apply makeup for a minimum of 12 hours. Longer is better. Freshly treated skin is more porous and prone to congestion.
-
SPF is non-negotiable. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every morning without exception, for a minimum of 7 days. Post-treatment your skin can burn and pigment faster than normal.
-
No retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliants for at least 5 days after treatment. Use only a gentle cleanser and a simple, fragrance-free moisturiser.
-
Avoid heat for 24–48 hours, this includes saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and intense exercise. Heat increases inflammation in already-sensitised skin.
-
Do not pick, squeeze, or scratch the skin, even if it flakes or feels congested. Let your skin work through its process. Interfering causes scarring and delays results.
