Safe results through experience, preparation, and follow-up
Consultation Comes First
Before beginning your laser journey, a personal consultation is always required.
During this visit we will:
-
Review your medical history and current skin condition.
-
Explain how the treatment works and what results you can expect.
-
Assess your hair and skin type to create the right treatment plan.
-
Answer your questions and give you tailored advice.
All laser treatments must be documented, and your records are securely stored for 5 years in line with Strålskyddsmyndigheten and GDPR regulations. We use a protected booking system to safeguard your information. If this feels sensitive, please let us know during your consultation.
This step is essential for your safety and ensures that your treatment follows both Strålskyddsmyndigheten’s regulations and Alma Lasers’ clinical guidelines.
Before Your Treatment
To ensure the best and safest results, please follow these guidelines before your laser session:
-
Avoid tanning – Do not use tanning beds, or expose the treatment area to strong sunlight for at least 4 weeks before your session.
-
No tanning products – Self-tanners and bronzing lotions must be avoided on the treated area for at least 2 weeks prior. These can interfere with the laser and increase the risk of burns or uneven results.
-
Shave the area – Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (unless instructed otherwise). Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams for at least 4 weeks beforehand. IF shaving is an absolute no go for you then mention this at your consultation, we have several alternative options that can help you still start with laser.
-
Skin must be clean – Arrive with clean skin. Please avoid lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup on the treatment area.
-
Medications & health – Inform us of any new medications, supplements, or health changes. Some medicines increase light sensitivity and must be discussed before treatment.
After Your Treatment
Laser can make your skin more sensitive, so good aftercare is essential:
-
Redness & warmth are normal – Slight redness or warmth may appear for a few hours. A cool compress or soothing aloe vera gel can help.
-
Be gentle – Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, or intense workouts for 24–48 hours.
-
No plucking or waxing – Shaving is fine between sessions, but don’t wax, tweeze, or use epilators since they remove the follicles the laser needs to target.
-
Skin products – Avoid harsh scrubs, retinoids, acids, or perfumed products on the treated area for 2–3 days.
Sun Safety Guidance
After laser, your skin is more sensitive to UV light. Protecting it from the sun is essential for both safety and long-lasting results:
-
SPF every day – Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily on the treated area, even in winter or cloudy weather.
-
Reapply often – Reapply sunscreen every 2–3 hours when outdoors.
-
Cover up – Use loose, protective clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when possible.
-
Avoid direct sun – Limit sun exposure, especially 1–2 weeks before and after each session.
These steps help prevent pigmentation changes, irritation, and ensure your results stay consistent.
Important Safety Notes
In Sweden, laser hair removal is regulated by Strålskyddsmyndigheten (SSM). All treatments must be performed under safe conditions, using approved equipment and qualified staff.
Your safety is always our top priority – we follow both Swedish regulations and Alma Lasers’ clinical guidelines to ensure every treatment is carried out with the highest standard of care.
